"The workshop provides me with a different perspective on how to help children with autism. The idea of ‘joining’ sounds interesting and it does make sense about how we can join them before we lead them out."

With more than 12 years of experience working with children, teenagers, and adults on the autism spectrum, my work is shaped by the belief that before a person can learn well, they need to feel safe, regulated, and connected. From the Son-Rise Program, I learned the power of joining. When we enter a child’s world with genuine interest instead of constantly pulling them into ours, we build trust. And from that trust, we can slowly stretch attention, communication, flexibility, and interaction.

From DIR-Floortime, I learnt to look at development more deeply - not just whether a child can answer a question or follow an instruction, but whether they can stay regulated, share attention, communicate back and forth, solve problems, express emotions, and stay connected with another person. I help autistic individuals build the foundations they need for real-life communication and relationships. My sessions are relational, playful, practical, and responsive, using play, movement, conversation, everyday routines, and social experiences to help my clients grow in ways that are meaningful and usable in real life.

To me, accepting autism does not mean leaving a person stuck. And helping someone grow does not mean forcing them, shaming them, or ignoring who they are. My work sits in the space between warmth and progress. I want my clients to feel deeply understood, but I also want them to become more confident, more connected, and more able to participate in the world around them.
